Cliff started
his music training at the early age of 10. He started with piano being
home schooled in music by his mom. Two years later he took up playing
trumpet and became very involved in concert music and brass bands. When
the Beatles and Beach Boys became popular (remember the days of hards
vs. cools), Cliff moved to playing guitar and organizing bands to make
dance music for hire. In the late 60's Cliff led some of the most popular
dance bands hired for High School dances and won several "Battle
of The Bands" contests in Central California.

Following the post hippie era of the 70's, Cliff moved to the San Francisco
Bay area to pursue a music career. He played many different venues, some
dance, some just performance in various kinds of music: rock, jazz, country,
blues and big band. After 12 years of music he became very discouraged
by the whole music scene. He moved to San Diego in 1973, organized one
last band with a horn section that played for Christmas events. This band
took 1st place in the commercial division of the San Diego Lights on the
Bay when Cliff decided to just quit music.
In 1987, following the death of his mom, Cliff returned to music and
this time set his focus on creating sound that worships God. He also quickly
moved into the Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) method of capturing
his musical ideas and sound bites. This allowed him to produce the big
band sounds he was accustomed to without the ramp up time needed to find
the talent to produce the sound. MIDI also gave Cliff the freedom to focus
on teams of singers to produce complex vocal arrangements since less time
was spent on developing musicians on their instruments. This eventually
evolved into special teams of vocalists and instrumentalists supported
by MIDI big band arrangements that became known as NEO OPUS (new work)
projects. The NEO OPUS projects started in 1989 and consisted of music
produced for special events, street fairs, retreats, and fund raisers.
These projects continue through the present with various talented artists
joining the effort each year.
In 1995, Promise Keepers (a Christian men's movement) discovered Cliff
and enlisted him with his worship methods and artists during their efforts
to promote conferences and fill stadiums in Los Angeles and San Diego.
In 1996 alone, Cliff led a music team of 8 vocalists, 6 instrumentalists,
a 25 voice men's choir in the production of 9 wakeup calls. These events
had as few as 200 in attendance and as many 4,000+ at the Breaking Down
the Walls gathering which included Walk For Jesus people. The combined
efforts of Promise Keepers and Cliff's wakeup calls helped fill the Jack
Murphy Stadium the summer of 1996 with more than 46,000 men in conference.
By 1998, Cliff and Prison Fellowship had recreated 8 times the Promise
Keepers stadium events in State and Federal Prisons throughout California
with Cliff using his MIDI techniques to recreate the music worship experience
so renown to Promise Keepers gatherings.
When you attend and participate with a worship gathering led by Cliff,
one discovers that he makes music worship happen. He is definitely one
of the outstanding worship music ministers and band leaders of our day.
Cliff's up front skills and ability to interact with a congregation are
amazing, but what you'll appreciate most is his servants heart and willingness
to build relationships.
Cliff is one of those special gifts from God to the congregation. He
is an incredibly talented mature artist exhibiting a broad range of worship
music songs that only he can deliver with his own unique twist that connects
with people of all ages. His passion for God is contagious which is evident
in his music that inspires the listener. Cliff's music is constantly evolving,
changing, being reshaped and formed which brings a fresh and relevant
approach to worship and praise each time you hear it. His favorite saying
is... "Jam for the Lamb" which conveys the core values to his
spontaneous approach.
With an unwavering commitment to excellence, sparkling creativity, and
a music maturity that can only come from so much field work and study,
Clifford Taylor Fleischbein is bringing new life to the worship music
and ministry scene. In Cliff, you get a wealth of talent, equipped, educated
and experienced, a solid background in the gospel and the church, and
a servants heart for people. You can get excited about what God is doing
through Cliff.
